Monson Arts Gallery

The Monson Arts Gallery celebrates the creative heritage of Maine by hosting a wide variety of exhibitions featuring local artists, past and present. Presenting 3 to 4 shows a year, the gallery is a space to explore the artistic works connected to Monson Arts programs including local high schools and Maine colleges as well as featured professional artists like Berenice Abbott and Alan Bray. Additionally, the gallery has featured Monson historical shows and Maine Highland open calls as well as traditional Wabanaki indigenous art.

We look forward to seeing you visit this vibrant, eclectic show space that celebrates the expressive talents of those drawn to make and create in the Maine North Woods.

Michael Rothschild

June 13, 2026 – October 12, 2026

Reception: Saturday June 20th, 2026, 2pm-4pm

Reading: 4pm-5pm

Graven Images: Stone, Wood, Copper, Steel, Bone – featuring Michael Rothschild’s first exhibition in the United States. This exhibition will show a collection of precious obsessions. The drawings that inspired etchings accompany the sculptures. Each medium has its own power over the subject. The grain of the wood and stone guide the form. Human figures, often of motherhood, and creatures of the sea, sky, rivers, and land dominate the work in all mediums.

The exhibition runs from June 13th through October 12th, 2026, with the opening reception on June 20th from 2pm to 4 PM at the Monson Arts Gallery, 8 Greenville Road in Monson, Maine. Rothschild will give a reading from his newly released book, Sculpture and Tales, from 4pm – 5pm at the Moore Studio Building, 3 Tenney Hill Rd in Monson.
