Monson Arts is hiring! We are looking to fill the Monson Arts is hiring! We are looking to fill the Maintenance and Studio Support position. This role supports all of the physical buildings of Monson Arts and our guests coming through the programs.

Maine Crafts Association and Monson Arts hosted a Maine Crafts Association and Monson Arts hosted a directors retreat to support relationship building for Maine arts organizations here in Monson. We had a great time with creative excercises led by @stukestenbaum and @susanwebsterdeerisle reminding us all why we are in the arts! 

Thank you to all who could join us.  And thank you to @thequarrymonson for keeping us well nurished.

Mackenzie Goodine is our first high school program Mackenzie Goodine is our first high school program graduate to return to Monson Arts as an artist in residence. 

Mackenzie was here in August through the @monson_seminar for a three week residency program that awards Pell-eligible, first-generation college students the opportunity to experience an art residency, and the focused time and space to create.

It's the last week to view QUARRIES: MUSE AND MATE It's the last week to view QUARRIES: MUSE AND MATERIAL in the gallery - the final day is November 2nd. We enjoyed having this incredible show for the summer and fall. The outdoor sculptures will be in Monson a bit longer, so you'll have more chances to see them if you haven't.

It was a rainy and foggy day in Monson yesterday, It was a rainy and foggy day in Monson yesterday, but it didn't seem to dampen the spirits of our high school students. In fact, it may have contributed to the perfect mood for creating.

Our last event of illustration week with the @illu Our last event of illustration week with the @illustration_institute was a presentation from Steve Costanza about his book, King of Ragtime, The Story of Scott Joplin. Steve is the author and illustrator of many acclaimed children’s books. He shared with us his process of writing and creating a picture book based on a favorite musician, Scott Joplin, and he even played us some ragtime tunes!
Day three with the @illustration_institute was an Day three with the @illustration_institute was an amazing demonstration of marquetry by Jim Macdonald. Day two with the @illustration_institute 🖊️ O Day two with the @illustration_institute 🖊️ Our high school students got the incredible opportunity to work with Scott Nash and William Roth! They each shared their process for writing and illustrating. Their passion for art and storytelling was infectious. Our visual arts and writing students worked together to create stories and illustrations after learning about the process. (And collected a few autographs from their teachers).

Day one of @illustration_institute week at Monson Day one of @illustration_institute week at Monson Arts had Lucky Platt reading her story "Imagine a Wolf". After coloring wolf ears each student worked with Lucky and @nancygibsonnash to create unique characters that morphed into eachother.
Studio visits! We saw a wonderful variety of mediu Studio visits! We saw a wonderful variety of mediums and methods from this group yesterday - and Mother Nature has treated us to sunny, warm autumn days so far. We can’t wait to see what else they create in the coming weeks.
