Maintenance and Studio Support
Monson Arts is a residency and workshop program in Monson, Maine. An initiative of Maine’s Libra Foundation, Monson Arts began programming in 2018. It was started as a way to spur economic development in Piscataquis County. Monson, the last town before the 100 Mile Wilderness on the Appalachian Trail, was the home of photographer Berenice Abbott, painter Carl Sprinchorn, and was a center for slate quarrying and furniture making.
Monson Arts’ mission is to provide time and space for creative work. This is done through a combination of residencies, workshops, education programs for schools and the community, gallery exhibitions, and new initiatives. The Maintenance and Studio Support position is responsible for supporting all programing as required by the Director and Shop Technician, by keeping up on general maintenance on all properties associated with Monson Arts and Pineland Farms, driving vehicles, and supporting general requests. Ideal candidate will have a passion for supporting the arts, along with a curiosity about the creative processes of our artists in residence and program participants.
This role is an in-person part-time year round position (15-25hr), with overtime on holidays. The Maintenance and Studio Support position reports to the Director and works closely with other staff including the shop technician, property manager, and support staff.
