For the Summer of 2022, Monson Arts will be offering a set of programming to engage our local residents with opportunities to discover and express their creativity.

 

Monson Memories- May 15, July 17, August 28

A series of three workshops lead by Maine writer Peggy Yocom, to bring your memories of Monson onto the page.  Anyone with something to share about Monson is encouraged to participate in these free workshops to create short memoirs to be compiled into an anthology to celebrate Monson’s Bicentennial. Additional drop in editing sessions will be scheduled throughout the summer.

An experience designed for all ages, this will be an immersive, place based practice in seeing and making. Rachel Alexandrou, a forager trained in both plant science and the arts will lead participants through their local landscape. The final outcome of this workshop will be a wild feast.

 

 

Mountain and pond landscapeMindfulness in the Maine Woods: A Saunter up Little Moose Mountain- August 9

Wendy Weiger will lead a gentle walk through the woods, taking time to appreciate where you are. “Mindful Minutes” will be practiced along the way to enrich your sensory experience of the natural world.

 

 

 

Cyanotype Workshop – July 17 Sun Prints, Rayograms, images that are created by using the sun and prepared paper to create cyan blue captures. Using natural materials and found objects, each participant will work with Portland Based artist Celeste Roberge to learn about the process and history of cyanotypes, creating 4 images by the end of the workshop.
