Monson Arts Employment Opportunity
Education Programs and Communication Coordinator
October 4, 2024
Monson Arts is a residency and workshop program in Monson, Maine. An initiative of Maine’s Libra Foundation, Monson Arts began programming in 2018. It was started as a way to spur economic development in Piscataquis County. Monson, the last town before the 100 Mile Wilderness on the Appalachian Trail, was the home of photographer Berenice Abbott, painter Carl Sprinchorn, and was a center for slate quarrying and furniture making.
Monson Arts’ mission is to provide time and space for creative work. This is done through a combination of residencies, workshops, education programs for schools and the community, gallery exhibitions, and new initiatives. The Education Programs and Communication Coordinator is responsible for facilitating program implementation between Monson Arts and area schools and community participants, and serves as the first point of contact for communications. The ideal candidate will have a passion for creative education and supporting the arts, along with a curiosity about the creative processes of our students and artists in residence.
This role is an in-person, full time position (35-40hr) with benefits. The Education Program and Communication Coordinator reports to the Executive Director and works closely with other staff including the shop technician, property manager, and support staff.
